Cheesed off

July 6th, 2005 / #complaints, #food

When I was a little kid, I was always wary of eating salad. If it was green and was not covered with melted cheddar cheese, there was never usually a good chance that such an item would come within a foot of my mouth.

In my old age, though, I’ve matured a little bit. If I am eating at a restaurant and my dinner comes with a salad, I can manage to swallow it while washing it down with a nice vinaigrette.

However, I cannot bring myself to eat garden salads. My ideal salad is basically a bowl of lettuce with croûtons and a sufficiently fattening dressing. I have nothing against garden salads in regards to their content except for one item.

When the chef takes those little strips of carrots and showers my salad with them, my basic instinct (or wishful thinking, whichever you prefer) says, “Oooh! Cheese!”

Oh no, my friends. It’s just carrot. Yuck.

Yeah, but cheese in salads is kinda gross. Cheese in everything else is delicious, but I’ve never understood how it belongs in any salad.

But you’re right. Shaved carrots suck.

My Idea of a salad is leaves of deer jerky, covered in bacon bits and lots of bold and hardy BBQ sauce…yummmm

yum salads…..i like cheese on my salad too but only if i put ranch dressing and eggs on it. but lately my homemade vinegrette on mixed greens and tomatoes does the trick.

if you go to the harvest anytime soon, try a spinach salad with hot bacon dressing…that’s my favorite salad in the world…if they dont actually sell it, tell them i told you to get it.

Hi, my dad showed me your site, he said it was on the St.Petersburg blog listings. I like it, very cool. Mine is Odd, and immature, lol. I’m the sameway with salads, and the carrots. Curse them and their cheese imitations! Ok, that’s enough. Once again, nice blog. Goodbye, and remember, never trust a carrot. (i know i’m a complete loser)

This is a not-so-detailed account of my adolescence over the course of almost a decade. Here, I shared my thoughts about things of no real consequence while at the same time being reckless with semicolons and flowery language.

I used this website to connect with folks before Facebook. Today, I sometimes chronicle interesting thoughts and observations I have. I don't update as much as I should.
